Monday, for the love of Pete

So, I have this brown suede blazer that I bought last year that I've worn once. It's just too big. So, since I've started selling a couple of my things through a local consignment shop, I thought I'd drop it by there. Yeah, closed on Mondays. Sigh...

So, I figure hey, I have to go to the movie theatre to buy Harry Potter tickets, I'll take it by the new "Plato's Closet" that is right by it. (Plato's Closet, by the way, is a consignment shop for like teens and college kids.) So, I take the jacket in there only to be told by this snooty BADLY bleached blond girl that the jacket was "too mature looking" for their shop. What the hell?? So, I have old lady clothes?? It's not like I brought in a muumuu or some pantyhose with reinforced toes. I grabbed the jacket back and marched out with quite the pissed off face, let me tell you.

I march to the movie theatre to at least get my tickets and make the trip worth it. Guess what? That theatre doesn't have matinees anymore. Nope. They only have movies starting at 4:00 in the afternoon. So, my trip to this place was a complete waste of time. No movie tickets. No sold blazer.

To make up for it, I ducked into Bath and Body Works and got a few of their new special Christmas things. Word to the wise- check out their 3-in-1's that are comparable to Philosophy's. They are the same size and are only $14. They have 3 scents for the holidays and the Gingerbread one is the best.

Fashion statements

Apparently, in some master rule books for universities, there is a rule that says if you are going to be a professor at an institution for higher learning, you must dress scruffy, not shave, and wear no makeup. Oh, and the clothes that you wear must be at least 15 years out of style.

Good lord. I was at UGA today for a seminar on retirement that our office was sponsoring. There were people walking past our tables with perms and big bangs, tapered leg pants, short sleeved shirts with ties, and lets not forget the frosted blue eye shadow. Nice. Very nice.

The best fashion don't had to be one of the other vendors, however. The man had a serious little-man's complex to begin with. Ugh, get over yourself. He was wearing camel colored dress pants (cut about an inch too short), an olive jacket, a white shirt(which was 2 sizes too big) and striped tie, and these extremely light brown shoes that DID not match. The piece de resistance had to be his dyed and carefully puffed and combed and sprayed within an inch of its life hair. It looked like very dark brown cotton candy and made me think of a helmet as it was combed back from his forehead. Sigh... Dude, we can see that your hair is thinning. You're not fooling anyone. Just let it go.

Fabulous beauty stuff

Now, as I mentioned in my first post, I am a beauty product junkie. Bad. So, of course, I had to talk about 2 great experiences I've had lately. First, I have rad about E.L.F. products for a while in beauty magazines. I didn't realize they had their own website and I kept looking for them in stores. Well, lo and behold, I found out that they do have a website (www.eyeslipsface.com) and I visited. Well, it's a dollar beauty store! Everything on there from their brushes to their makeup is $1 each! I ordered an entire set of their brushes which cost a whopping $9. And I ordered some face higlighter. I figured I could try their stuff and if I didn't like it, I was only out $10. Well, imagine my surprise when all the stuff got to my house in less than a week and it was TOP QUALITY! I couldn't have been more pleased. The brushes are beautiful and the highlighter is great. I am probably going to order more colors of it. They also have lip gloss and eye makeup as well. I can't wait to go back to the site and try some more goodies. Oh, and they also include a free, full size sample with each order.

I also recently re-visited the Mario Badescu website recently. Wow. I went to look for the drying lotion, but found a bunch of stuff instead. Plus, if you fill out a survey about your skin, they send you a TON of really good sized samples to try. I got an envelope with samples of 2 masks, eye cream, 2 kinds of face cream, face cleanser, toner, and a hand cream. Loved it. Loved all of it. Going to order from them soon
