Fashion statements

Apparently, in some master rule books for universities, there is a rule that says if you are going to be a professor at an institution for higher learning, you must dress scruffy, not shave, and wear no makeup. Oh, and the clothes that you wear must be at least 15 years out of style.

Good lord. I was at UGA today for a seminar on retirement that our office was sponsoring. There were people walking past our tables with perms and big bangs, tapered leg pants, short sleeved shirts with ties, and lets not forget the frosted blue eye shadow. Nice. Very nice.

The best fashion don't had to be one of the other vendors, however. The man had a serious little-man's complex to begin with. Ugh, get over yourself. He was wearing camel colored dress pants (cut about an inch too short), an olive jacket, a white shirt(which was 2 sizes too big) and striped tie, and these extremely light brown shoes that DID not match. The piece de resistance had to be his dyed and carefully puffed and combed and sprayed within an inch of its life hair. It looked like very dark brown cotton candy and made me think of a helmet as it was combed back from his forehead. Sigh... Dude, we can see that your hair is thinning. You're not fooling anyone. Just let it go.
