A moment of silence, please...

...in memorial. I don't know if everyone knew this or not, but apparently Customer Service in this country is dead. Case in point- my visit to Wal-Mart yesterday. Now, I realize that by saying the word "Wal-Mart" that should already indicate a plethora of ass-hats who just don't care. But, it really hit me yesterday. Now generally, I try to avoid Wal-Mart as usually the customers are just as stupid as the people who work there. But, since we are on a saving money kick, I figured I'd better go there for some essentials. After running through the store to try to get everything and go in time to get to a rehearsal last night, I dashed to the nearest cash register. A young girl was checking me out. She looked about early college age. Well, as she's bagging my food, I notice that she's not putting the bags in my cart. Nope, she's just stacking them up by the register. And I realize that she expects me to load my own cart.

Now, let me preface this by saying I am NO better than anyone else and I hardly expect anyone to be a step-and-fetch for me, but seriously! Do I work for Wal-mart? No. Am I receiving some sort of paycheck from them? No. Then why am I expected to do labor for them? The girl finished totalling up my purchases and rather than starting to load my cart while I am signing my credit card receipt, she just watches me and then gives ME a dirty look for not immediately beginning to hoist my bags into my cart. In fact, she starts ringing up the next person! WHAT THE HELL? So, I start picking up my bags at which time she reluctantly starts helping me. They sucky part was, I didn't have time to stop at customer service and say something because I was running late already.

So, let's all wear a little black today and light a candle. God speed, Customer Service. Do not go gentle into that good night.
